Winemaking
Located on the right bank of the Serein, the Grand Cru side, Montée de Tonnerre is certainly the most prestigious and sought-after of the Chablis Premier Crus. Louis Michel & Fils produces grapes on an entire slope in this location, creating powerful wines that are both complex and balanced.
Pale lemon yellow. Power once again is evident from the outset. But strict enough and with admirable tension at the back, the marine minerals doing their job. A wealth of flavour here and with real grip. This keeps building in the aftertaste. Excellent! Drink from 2026-2034

Louis Michel Chablis 1er Cru Montée de Tonnerre comes from the most prestigious of all the Chablis premiers crus. The vineyard is located on the right bank of the river Serein, as with the grands crus. The domaine grows fruit on a total of four hectares which were planted in 1974. The soil is Kimmeridgian from the right bank; it’s sticky and features marl with marine fossils, rich in limestone pebbles. Vines with an average age of more than 40 years.
