The historic Vasse Felix Cabernet Sauvignon, an estate treasure in Margaret River, was the region's pioneering cabernet sauvignon, crafted by Vasse Felix in 1972 and produced annually since. Composed mainly of cabernet sauvignon (88%), primarily from Houghton clone material, this blend often incorporates merlot, petit verdot, or cabernet franc. Following traditional vinification and maturation in new (40-55%) and seasoned French barriques for 16 to 18 months, it presents an intensely aromatic style with blackcurrant, cedar, and herb garden aromas, generous flavors, and fine-grained tannins.

With old cellar charm, this vintage expresses more earthy, forest-like elements, wild mushroom and dark berry fruit, than ocean scents. So powerful and fluid. It flows from buoyant fruit sweetness with a savoury overtone, into a super-fine, tightly woven tannin profile that is powdery and dry but not intense. It is rich fruit power, but not heavy."
