Jim Barry purchased the Lodge Hill vineyard in 1977, convinced that it would produce some of the best Riesling in Clare. Situated on the eastern ranges of the township of Clare, it is one of the highest vineyards in the Valley at an altitude of 480 metres, and is ideal for producing steely, minerally Rieslings, distinctive to the area.
Brilliant water like colour with a subtle greenish tint to the outskirts. Intense aromas of lime juice, green apple and lemon meld into a mix of talc, orange rind and chalky mineral notes. Zesty lemon and lime fruits drive the mouth watering palate with wet steel, chalky talc, orange rind and mineral elements the underbelly. Crunchy acidity with the dry finish showing plenty of spine-tingling tension. Long, zippy lemon, lime and slatey mineral laced aftertaste.
