The Yamazaki Distillery, Japan’s first and oldest malt whisky producer, was established in 1923 by Shinjiro Torii, founder of Suntory. Nestled at the foot of Mt. Tennozan, Yamazaki was chosen for its exceptional water and environment, ideal for whisky crafting. Inspired by traditional Scottish whisky, it became the birthplace of Japanese whisky.
