3 Ravens Barley Apera 500mL is an extraordinary fortified barley wine from Thornbury, Victoria, created in the spirit of Australian apera. Brewed in 2019, it incorporates solera stock ale with components dating from 2018, 2017 and 2011, bringing exceptional depth and maturity.
The beer spent 13 months in 300-litre ex-whisky hogsheads with an alcohol-tolerant yeast before being fortified with spirit distilled from recovered 3 Ravens beer. Dark, powerful and complex, it combines rich malt, dried fruit, oxidative depth, whisky-oak character and firm hop structure. Packaged without carbonation, it is intended to be sipped like sherry or port.
