“The 2025 Landscape Blanco White represents the first crop of fruit from the newly acquired vineyard in Coal River Valley and comprises a blend of 60% Viognier, 20% Chardonnay and 20% Pinot Gris. Aromatically, of course, the Viognier rides high on this wine, with notes of apricot blossom and green apple. The fruit was intentionally harvested early in order to avoid the native unctuousness that is endemic to the Viognier grape. In the mouth, the wine is textural and rich, long and piercing. I like it so much. The Chardonnay and Pinot Gris harness or restrict the Viognier, and yet the irrepressible nature of Viognier exudes through the wine. This is a ripping little wine. It is interesting and great. 12.5% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.”
About This Wine
A blend of 60% Viognier, 20% Chardonnay and 20% Pinot Gris from Tamar and Coal River Valleys, Tasmania.
The Tamar Valley vineyard is ACO certified organic, while the Coal River Valley vineyard is in conversion to certified organic.
The fruit was harvested early to preserve freshness and delicacy, then fermented at cool temperatures until dry. The inclusion of Chardonnay contributes body and texture, while Pinot Gris adds spice and aromatics, resulting in a harmonious and textured wine.
