The 2025 Clonakilla Riesling is a finely detailed and vibrant cool-climate Riesling from the Canberra District, showcasing purity, tension, and aromatic precision. Crafted by Clonakilla, this wine reflects the estate’s elegant and restrained winemaking philosophy, highlighting freshness and mineral drive over overt richness.
Fruit is sourced from carefully managed vineyards in the Canberra District, where warm days and cool nights allow for slow ripening and the preservation of bright natural acidity. The 2025 vintage delivered fruit of exceptional clarity and balance, producing a Riesling with expressive aromatics and fine structural tension.
In the winery, fruit was gently pressed and cool fermented in stainless steel to preserve varietal purity and aromatic lift. Minimal intervention ensured the wine retained its vibrant citrus profile and crystalline freshness.
The wine opens with lifted aromas of lime blossom, lemon zest, green apple, and white florals, layered with hints of wet stone and subtle mineral nuance. The palate is dry, crisp, and finely structured, showing intense citrus fruit, lively acidity, and a long, refreshing finish with excellent precision and persistence.
While immediately appealing in its youth, the 2025 Clonakilla Riesling also possesses excellent cellaring potential and will evolve gracefully over the next 8–15+ years, developing classic Riesling complexity and toasty nuances with age.
