92/100 — The Real Review · 2024 Vintage · Published: 01 Jul 2025
“Youthful light yellow hue, and the freshness is evident on the nose as well: lemon juice, freshly rolled pastry, curing hay and bread crust aromas. The wine is delicate and refined, subtle and tightly coiled, with beautifully balanced acidity and an even flow across the palate. Nice now, but better in another year.”
92/100 — James Suckling · 2024 Vintage · Published: 10 Nov 2025
“Subtle and minerally aromas of sliced lemons, Asian pears, seashells and white peaches. The palate is tightly wound, with bright acidity, fine tension and a long, saline, mouthwatering finish. Drink or hold. Screw cap.”
About This Wine
Coal River Valley experienced reduced influence of La Niña weather patterns for the 2024 vintage, with cooler spring conditions and lower rainfall, followed by a warmer summer and mild autumn with dry conditions, resulting in grapes delivered in superb condition.
Sourced from a south-east facing block, the vineyard is protected from north-westerly winds and benefits from shading that allows longer ripening and higher natural acidity. The soil is predominantly dolerite with stones and patches of sandy loam.
The grapes were handpicked and whole bunch pressed, with fermentation in French oak puncheons and a ceramic egg. Lees stirring was conducted bi-weekly for three months during malolactic fermentation, followed by maturation prior to blending and bottling.
Producer Notes
The aromas open with notes of new season nectarines, lemon curd, white florals and a hint of struck match. The palate is medium-bodied, presenting crisp acidity that balances the ripe fruit flavours. Subtle oak influences add a layer of creaminess without overpowering the fruit expression. The finish is clean and refreshing, with lingering citrus notes.
