The 2023 Yarra Yering Dry Red No. 3 is a masterful blend of Portuguese varieties grown in the Yarra Valley, showcasing the estate’s adventurous spirit and dedication to balance and texture. Inspired by the great wines of the Douro Valley, it combines the richness of Touriga Naçional, the fragrance of Tinta Cão, and the structure of Tinta Roriz to produce a red of remarkable depth and vibrancy.
Tasting Notes
Intense aromas of dark cherry, blackberry, and black plum unfold alongside lifted florals, exotic spice, anise, and cocoa. The palate is medium to full-bodied, silky, and layered, offering a harmonious interplay of ripe fruit, graphite, savoury herbs, and fine tannins. A mineral-driven acidity keeps the wine fresh and energetic, finishing long and refined.
Winemaking
Hand-harvested fruit was fermented in small open-top fermenters, with gentle hand-plunging to extract colour and tannin. Maturation took place in seasoned French oak barriques for 12 months, allowing varietal expression and texture to shine through without overt oak influence.
