Vineyard
The 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon is drawn from the original 1898 dry-grown blocks on red-brown loam over limestone. With minuscule yields and meticulous selection, the wine captures the depth, minerality, and structure that define Wendouree’s timeless style. Fermented in open slate fermenters and matured in French oak, it was bottled unfiltered to preserve its integrity.
Vintage
2023 was a cooler, long-ripening year in the Clare Valley, delivering fruit of superb aromatic complexity and natural acidity. The result is a wine of classical balance—restrained, perfumed, and deeply expressive of site and season.
Tasting Notes
Vibrant deep crimson. The nose reveals cassis, blackberry, violet, and pencil shavings, supported by savoury oak and earthy spice. The palate is medium to full-bodied, precise and layered, with refined tannins and a long, pure finish. A beautifully poised and cellar-worthy release that will age gracefully for decades.
