The 2023 vintage benefited from a relatively mild growing season with excellent diurnal variation. Warm days encouraged flavour development, while cool nights preserved freshness and structure. These conditions produced fruit of impressive concentration, vibrant acidity and finely shaped tannins — ideal for expressing both power and precision.
The nose is bold and expressive, opening with aromas of blackberry, dark plum, blueberry and mulberry. Layers of cracked black pepper, licorice, violet and graphite add complexity, while subtle notes of dark chocolate, smoked meat and savoury spice reflect the vineyard’s mineral-rich soils and careful oak maturation.
On the palate, the 2023 Slaughterhouse Paddock Shiraz is full-bodied, muscular and deeply flavoured. Dense dark fruit is framed by firm yet polished tannins that give the wine structure and drive. The texture is rich but not heavy, lifted by fresh acidity that keeps the palate focused and energetic.
