The 2023 Benjamin Leroux Meursault is a finely balanced and expressive white Burgundy from one of the Côte de Beaune’s most celebrated Chardonnay appellations. Crafted by Benjamin Leroux, this wine combines the richness and texture associated with Meursault with the precision and restraint that define Leroux’s meticulous winemaking style.
Fruit is sourced from carefully selected village-level parcels across Meursault, where limestone-rich soils and a cool continental climate contribute to wines of depth, mineral tension, and longevity. The 2023 vintage delivered excellent fruit purity and natural balance, resulting in a Chardonnay that is both generous and refined.
In the winery, grapes were hand-harvested and whole-bunch pressed before fermentation in French oak barrels, including a modest proportion of new oak. Extended lees ageing enhanced texture and complexity while preserving freshness and vineyard expression.
The wine opens with aromas of white peach, ripe citrus, pear, and lemon curd, layered with notes of hazelnut, brioche, flint, and subtle oak spice. The palate is medium- to full-bodied and beautifully textured, supported by vibrant acidity and a mineral-driven backbone that carries through to a long, savoury finish.
Approachable in its youth with aeration, the 2023 Benjamin Leroux Meursault also possesses the structure and balance to age gracefully over the next 8–15+ years, developing additional nutty and tertiary complexity.
