The 2023 Benjamin Leroux Gevrey-Chambertin is a finely detailed and terroir-driven Pinot Noir from one of the Côte de Nuits’ most revered villages. Crafted by Benjamin Leroux, this wine captures the balance of power, structure, and elegance that defines great Gevrey-Chambertin, while reflecting Leroux’s precise and minimal-intervention approach to winemaking.
Fruit is sourced from carefully selected vineyard parcels across Gevrey-Chambertin, where limestone-rich soils and old vines contribute depth, mineral tension, and aromatic complexity. The 2023 vintage delivered excellent fruit purity and balance, producing wines with vibrant freshness, fine tannins, and expressive site character.
In the winery, grapes were hand-harvested and gently handled, with a measured use of whole bunch fermentation to enhance perfume and structural detail. Maturation in French oak barrels, including a restrained proportion of new oak, allowed the wine to gain texture and complexity while preserving transparency and finesse.
The wine opens with layered aromas of red cherry, wild raspberry, and dark plum, intertwined with notes of rose petal, spice, forest floor, and subtle earthy nuance. The palate is medium-bodied and beautifully composed, showing silky tannins, vibrant acidity, and a long, mineral-driven finish characteristic of Gevrey-Chambertin.
