The 2022 Pierro Vintage Reserve Chardonnay is the pinnacle expression of Chardonnay from one of Margaret River’s most respected producers. Produced only in exceptional vintages, the Vintage Reserve (VR) represents the finest parcels of fruit and the highest level of precision in the winery. The 2022 vintage delivers concentration, energy, and remarkable detail, reinforcing Pierro’s reputation as a benchmark for premium Australian Chardonnay.
Vineyard and Winemaking
Fruit is sourced from the estate’s oldest and best-performing vineyard blocks in Willyabrup, where gravelly loam soils and maritime influence create ideal conditions for Chardonnay. Hand-harvested fruit was whole-bunch pressed and fermented in French oak barriques, with a high proportion of new oak to build complexity and structure. Extended lees ageing and full integration in barrel contribute texture, richness, and longevity.
Tasting Notes
Aromas of white peach, nectarine, and lemon curd are layered with notes of roasted cashew, flint, brioche, and subtle vanilla spice. The palate is concentrated yet finely balanced, showing citrus and stone fruit depth framed by creamy texture and mineral tension.
