The 2022 vintage across South Australia delivered moderate warmth, balanced ripening and excellent fruit quality. The multi-regional sourcing approach ā drawing from McLaren Vale, Barossa Valley, Padthaway, Wrattonbully and other premium sites ā allowed Penfolds to craft a wine of depth, colour and vibrancy despite vintage variability across the state.
The bouquet is expressive and inviting, bursting with aromas of blackberry, black cherry, plum compote and mulberry. Notes of licorice, mocha, baking spice and dark chocolate add richness, while subtle hints of vanilla, cedar and warm earth reflect maturation in seasoned American oak.
