2017 GIACONDA NEBBIOLO 750ML
An elegant and powerful Australian Nebbiolo from Beechworth, Victoria. The 2017 vintage opens with lifted aromatics of damp rose petals, sandalwood, hints of tar, red fruits, forest floor and polished leather. The palate is tense, refined and expressive, with fresh red fruit carried by fine, persistent tannins and bright acidity. A complex, age-worthy Nebbiolo showing both varietal character and Giaconda’s precise winemaking style.

Giaconda wines are hand-crafted with a natural and restrained winemaking approach, aiming to preserve terroir and vintage character rather than dominate the wine. The estate generally uses indigenous yeasts for fermentation, natural malolactic fermentation, French oak maturation, minimal sulphur additions and no filtration before bottling. (Giaconda)
For red wines, Giaconda uses a combination of whole bunch and de-stemmed crushed fruit, fermented in large concrete tanks. Extended skin contact helps develop finer tannins and greater complexity before the wine is basket pressed and transferred to French oak barrels for maturation. The wines are aged deep underground in Giaconda’s granite maturation cave, where stable temperature and high humidity provide ideal ageing conditions. (Giaconda)
