Fraser Gallop Estate, located in the heart of Margaret River’s Wilyabrup subregion, is acclaimed for producing some of Western Australia’s most refined and terroir-driven wines. The Palladian range represents the pinnacle of the estate’s craftsmanship — small-batch, meticulously selected, and expressing the purest articulation of site and season. The Palladian Chardonnay is consistently regarded as one of Australia’s greatest modern Chardonnays.
Vineyard
Fruit is sourced from the estate’s oldest and best-performing Chardonnay vines grown on gravelly loam soils over clay and granite—classic Wilyabrup terroir. Precision viticulture, low yields, whole-bunch pressing, and natural fermentation in fine French oak (primarily puncheons) result in a wine of finesse, complexity, and mineral drive. Extended maturation on lees adds texture and depth without sacrificing purity.
Vintage
The 2022 vintage in Margaret River was exceptional: a mild growing season, cool nights, and long, even ripening allowed Chardonnay to develop pristine flavours, bright natural acidity, and superb balance. Widely considered one of the standout recent vintages for white wines in the region.
Tasting Notes
The 2022 Palladian Chardonnay opens with aromas of white peach, lemon curd, grapefruit zest, and jasmine, interwoven with notes of flint, cashew, and delicate oak spice. The palate is precise and layered — combining citrus purity, stone fruit flesh, and subtle savoury complexity. A fine mineral line and vibrant acidity drive a long, elegant finish.
