The 2022 De Bortoli Noble One Botrytis Semillon is Australia’s most iconic dessert wine and a benchmark expression of botrytised Semillon. Produced by De Bortoli Wines in the Riverina region of New South Wales, Noble One has earned international acclaim for its richness, balance, and extraordinary ageing potential since its inaugural release in 1982.
Crafted from Semillon grapes affected by noble rot (Botrytis cinerea), the wine undergoes a natural concentration process in the vineyard, intensifying sugars, acidity, and flavour complexity. The warm days and cool mornings of the Riverina create ideal conditions for the gradual development of botrytis, producing fruit of remarkable intensity and purity.
The 2022 vintage delivered exceptional botrytised fruit with vibrant acidity and concentration. Following selective harvesting, the juice was fermented and matured in French oak barrels, enhancing texture, integration, and complexity while preserving freshness and varietal character.
The wine opens with luxurious aromas of apricot marmalade, honey, candied citrus peel, and baked peach, layered with notes of crème brûlée, vanilla, ginger spice, and toasted nuts. The palate is luscious and richly textured, yet beautifully balanced by vibrant acidity that prevents any heaviness. Layers of stone fruit, honey, and citrus unfold into a long, silky, and persistent finish.
