Vineyard
The century-old Lloyd vineyard sits on Terra Rossa soils over clay and limestone — a rare combination that provides intensity, natural balance, and fine tannin structure. Low yields and meticulous hand work ensure fruit purity and complexity. Fermentation takes place in open vats before maturation in fine French oak barrels, a restrained proportion new, allowing the vineyard’s character to shine with clarity and precision.
Vintage
The 2022 McLaren Vale vintage was cool and moderate, marked by excellent winter rains and long, even ripening conditions. Shiraz excelled under these conditions, producing wines with vibrant aromatics, deep fruit concentration, and finely etched tannin structure. A superb vintage for elegance and age-worthiness.
Tasting Notes
The 2022 Lloyd Reserve Shiraz opens with aromas of blackberry, plum, violet, and dark chocolate, woven with notes of spice, graphite, and subtle oak. The palate is powerful yet refined — rich black fruits supported by firm, silken tannins and bright natural acidity.
