The 2022 Bodega Catena Zapata Adrianna Vineyard ‘White Stones’ Chardonnay is an exceptional single-vineyard Chardonnay from one of South America’s greatest high-altitude vineyard sites. Crafted by Catena Zapata, this wine captures the extraordinary freshness, minerality, and tension that define Adrianna Vineyard in Mendoza.
The “White Stones” parcel is characterised by limestone-rich soils and white stone-covered terrain that contribute striking salinity and precision to the wine. Located high in the Andes foothills at nearly 1,500 metres elevation, the vineyard benefits from intense sunlight and dramatic diurnal temperature shifts, resulting in Chardonnay of remarkable aromatic complexity and vibrant natural acidity.
The 2022 vintage delivered superb clarity and balance. Fruit was hand-harvested and whole-bunch pressed before fermentation in French oak barrels with lees ageing to build texture and complexity while preserving the vineyard’s signature mineral character.
The wine opens with aromas of lemon curd, grapefruit, white nectarine, and citrus blossom layered with notes of crushed stone, flint, white flowers, and subtle spice. The palate is taut and energetic, combining vibrant citrus and stone fruit with creamy texture, electric acidity, and a long mineral-driven finish of exceptional persistence.
Approachable with aeration in its youth, the 2022 White Stones Chardonnay possesses outstanding ageing potential and will continue to evolve gracefully over 10–20+ years.
