The 2021 Pierro Vintage Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is the flagship red release from one of Margaret River’s most respected estates, crafted only in exceptional vintages from the finest vineyard parcels. The Vintage Reserve (VR) represents Pierro’s highest expression of Cabernet Sauvignon, combining concentration, precision, and elegance in a wine built for long-term cellaring. The outstanding 2021 vintage delivers remarkable purity and structure.
Vineyard and Winemaking
Sourced from Pierro’s oldest and best-performing vineyard blocks in Willyabrup, the fruit benefits from Margaret River’s maritime climate and gravelly loam soils, producing Cabernet Sauvignon of depth and finesse. Hand-harvested and carefully sorted, the fruit was fermented in small batches before extended maturation in premium French oak barriques, a significant proportion new, allowing complexity, structure, and integration to develop.
Tasting Notes
Deep ruby in colour, with intense aromas of blackcurrant, cassis, and dark cherry layered with cedar, graphite, tobacco leaf, and subtle dark chocolate. The palate is powerful yet composed, delivering concentrated dark fruit framed by fine-grained tannins and vibrant acidity. Layers of savoury complexity and mineral precision lead to a long, structured finish of exceptional clarity and persistence.
