The 2021 Greenock Creek Stone Block Shiraz is a vibrant, richly fruited expression of modern Barossa craftsmanship. While Greenock Creek is celebrated for its powerful single-vineyard wines, the Stone Block Shiraz offers a more approachable, early-drinking style that still reflects the estate’s hallmark concentration, depth and distinctive western Barossa character.
The 2021 vintage was excellent across the Barossa Valley. A mild, even growing season delivered pristine fruit with balanced ripeness, fine tannins and lifted aromatics — an ideal year for crafting expressive, beautifully proportioned Shiraz. Sourced from a selection of vineyards chosen for fragrance, freshness and varietal purity, the 2021 Stone Block captures the generosity of the region while maintaining focus and structure.
The nose opens with bright, juicy aromas of blackberry, black cherry and plum compote, supported by hints of violet, mocha, licorice and warm spice. Subtle oak notes of vanilla, cocoa and clove integrate seamlessly, enhancing the wine’s richness without overshadowing the fruit.
On the palate, the wine is medium-full bodied with a plush, silky texture. Ripe dark fruits flow through the mid-palate, framed by soft, rounded tannins and lively acidity that provide balance and drinkability. Layers of chocolate, spice, anise and gentle earthiness add depth, while the finish is smooth, generous and satisfyingly long.
This is a versatile and beautifully made Shiraz — approachable in youth, expressive of its Barossa origins, and crafted with the polish that defines the Greenock Creek style.
