“When I think of classic Tasmanian wines, the Lady A is one of the first names that springs to mind. Complex and long of flavour, with tones of lemon curd, guava and feijoa on a base of crushed riverstone. There's all sorts of stuff going on. Sandalwood, galangal, ginger, whey, clover blossom and pressed citrus blossom; you expect it to be more flavoursome, but it dekes you and sails stony, savoury and snow-melt pure on rails of marble-like acidity. Such a graceful drinking experience. Wonderful stuff.”

About This Wine
Lady A is Domaine A’s flagship white wine, inspired by the great oaked Sauvignon Blancs of Bordeaux and produced in very small quantities from a single hectare at Stoney Vineyard.
The first vintage was made in secret in 1996 as a gift for Ruth Althaus, and the wine has since achieved cult status for its purity, elegance and complexity. It is crafted from the estate’s oldest Sauvignon Blanc vines, planted in 1991.
The 2021 vintage reflects a warm, energetic growing season, delivering layered aromatics and a rich yet finely balanced palate with integrated oak and natural acidity, built for extended cellaring.
About the Winery
Domaine A is one of Tasmania’s most revered wine estates, established with the ambition to produce age-worthy, Old World–inspired wines at the southern edge of Australia. Its eleven-hectare Stoney Vineyard, first planted in 1973 in the Coal River Valley, is shaped by ancient Jurassic dolerite soils, a temperate maritime climate and a long, cool growing season.
The estate’s philosophy is uncompromising: fruit is never rushed, yields are tightly controlled and wines are released only when they are ready. Alongside the flagship Domaine A wines, the Stoney Vineyard range offers different expressions of the same exceptional site, all made with precision and restraint.
