Overview
Olivier Leflaive is one of Burgundy's respected names, founded in 1985 after Olivier Leflaive stepped away from co-managing Domaine Leflaive. The house is known for wines shaped by elegance, finesse, restrained oak and pure fruit expression.
Olivier Leflaive Bourgogne Rouge Cuvée Margot is named after one of Olivier Leflaive's daughters. The 2020 vintage is a fresh, elegant Pinot Noir sourced from more than twenty plots across Burgundy, including vines from the Côte de Beaune between Puligny-Montrachet and Pernand-Vergelesses, alongside old vines from the Hautes Côtes.
Tasting Notes
The nose is flattering and bright, showing small red fruits such as strawberry and raspberry. The palate is fresh and elegant, with crunchy red fruit, fine tannins and a graceful Bourgogne Rouge profile.
Vineyard & Terroir
The fruit comes from clay-loam soils, with vineyards sitting around 230 to 250 metres above sea level. The average vine age is approximately 30 years, and the grapes are 100% manually harvested.
Winemaking
Grapes are carefully sorted on arrival at the cellar, with 20% whole bunches and 80% destemmed fruit. Fermentation takes place in open vats over 15 to 20 days. The wine is aged for 16 months, including five months after blending, entirely in barrel with 18% new oak.
Food Pairing
Ideal with meat pies, roasted poultry, charcuterie and lightly spiced dishes.
