About This Wine
This is the flagship Shiraz from Tim Adams Wines, sourced from selected Clare Valley blocks. The 2019 season was warm, dry and compact with low winter rainfall and small, concentrated berries. Components were fermented on skins for 14 days, with a portion of pressings returned for structure and ageing potential. The wine matured for 24 months in a mix of new and used American oak hogsheads, followed by 30 months resting in tank before blending, fining and bottling in February 2024.
Tasting Notes
Appearance: Deep ruby red.
Nose: Ripe berries, black cherry, plum and chocolate with clove, nutmeg and vanilla oak spice.
Palate: Full-bodied with dark berry conserve, firm tannins from the warm, dry season, and balanced sweet fruit and spicy oak.
About the Winery
Tim Adams Wines is based in the Clare Valley, Australia, producing Riesling, Shiraz, Semillon and Cabernet Malbec blends. The Aberfeldy Shiraz is the flagship wine, made from low-yielding century-old vines and aged for 24 months in new French and American oak. The operation began in 1984 as a partnership between Tim and Pam Adams and coopers Bill and Jill Wray, releasing its first vintage in 1986 under the Adams and Wray label. From 1987 the wines were released under the Tim Adams name. The cellar door is located on the Riesling Trail in Clare Valley.
