The 2019 Roagna Langhe Rosso is a soulful and expressive red that reflects the philosophy and heritage of one of Piedmont’s most revered traditional producers. Crafted from younger vines and select parcels outside the Barbaresco and Barolo classifications, this wine offers an authentic introduction to Roagna’s uncompromising approach — purity, structure, and a profound sense of place.
Vineyard and Winemaking
Fruit is sourced from Roagna’s estate vineyards in the Langhe, grown on limestone-rich soils and farmed organically. The blend is typically Nebbiolo-led, with contributions from Barbera and Dolcetto depending on the vintage. Fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts in large wooden vats, followed by extended ageing in neutral Slavonian oak botti. No fining or filtration is employed, allowing the wine to express its terroir with clarity and integrity.
Tasting Notes
Aromas of red cherry, dried rose, and wild herbs are layered with notes of spice, earth, and subtle ironstone. The palate is medium-bodied and finely structured, showing bright red fruit, savoury minerality, and firm yet elegant tannins.
