Origin and Background
The Mount Mary Triolet is a refined Bordeaux-style white blend from the Yarra Valley, crafted from Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, and Muscadelle. This elegant wine reflects the estate¡¯s commitment to complexity, longevity, and restraint, and stands out as one of Australia¡¯s most age-worthy white wines.
Winemaking and Style
The grapes are sourced from estate-grown vines, gently pressed and fermented at cool temperatures to preserve freshness. Partial maturation in seasoned oak adds subtle complexity. The 2019 vintage offered a mild, dry growing season, resulting in pristine fruit and balanced acidity.
Tasting Notes
Pale lemon-gold in appearance. The nose reveals layered aromas of white peach, lemon zest, green apple, chamomile, hay, and hints of oak. On the palate, it is crisp and finely structured, with vibrant acidity, mineral drive, and well-integrated fruit and oak. The finish is long and clean.
Cellaring and Drinking Window
Delightful in its youth, the Triolet also ages gracefully over 5¨C10 years, developing rich notes of honey, toast, and nuts. Decanting is recommended if consumed young.
Food Pairing
An ideal match for roasted poultry, creamy seafood, mushroom risotto, or soft cheeses, where its bright fruit and layered texture enhance a wide range of dishes.
