Founded by Ron and Elva Laughton, Jasper Hill has been a small family business since its first vintage in 1982. Over the years, as the vineyards and their two daughters, Emily and Georgia, have grown, both have become integral to the business. Emily has passionately grown grapes and made wine alongside her father since 2001, while Georgia handles most of the administrative tasks. Ron and Elva reside on Emily’s Paddock, while Emily lives on Georgia’s Paddock vineyard with her husband Nick, daughter Ella, and son Nate. Nick is a valued team member, contributing both in the vineyard and the cellar. The continuation of the winemaking tradition by the next generation remains to be seen.
This wine features complex aromas and flavors of honey, praline, toast, and lanolin, with a light oak background and a crisp citrus finish. Produced in very limited quantities, it is a rare and lesser-known offering from Jasper Hill in Heathcote. Best enjoyed later in a meal with poultry, cheese, or robust vegetable dishes. 13.0% alc/vol.
