About This Wine
This is the flagship Shiraz from Tim Adams Wines, holding a Langtons Classification of Excellent. The 2018 growing season was warm and dry with low winter rainfall, producing small, concentrated berries. The best Shiraz blocks were hand-selected and ripened steadily to full maturity. Components were fermented on skins for 14 days, with a portion of pressings returned for structure and ageing potential. The wine matured for 24 months in a mix of new American and French oak hogsheads before blending, fining and bottling, followed by further bottle ageing prior to release.
Tasting Notes
Appearance: Deep ruby red.
Nose: Ripe berries, cherry, plum and chocolate with clove, nutmeg and vanilla oak characters.
Palate: Full-bodied with dark berry conserve flavours, firm tannin, persistent sweet fruit and oak, showing both power and finesse.
About the Winery
Tim Adams Wines is based in the Clare Valley, Australia, producing Riesling, Shiraz, Semillon and Cabernet Malbec blends. The Aberfeldy Shiraz is the flagship wine, made from low-yielding century-old vines and aged for 24 months in new French and American oak. The operation began in 1984 as a partnership between Tim and Pam Adams and coopers Bill and Jill Wray, releasing its first vintage in 1986. From 1987 the wines have been produced under the Tim Adams label. The cellar door sits on the Riesling Trail in Clare Valley.
