Origin and Winemaking
The 2018 Roagna Pira Barolo DOCG is a traditional expression of Nebbiolo from the historic Pira vineyard in Castiglione Falletto, Piedmont. Crafted by Luca Roagna using old-school methods, it reflects the unique terroir of the region. Vines are 25 to 50 years old, and fermentation uses indigenous yeast with a submerged cap maceration of 60–75 days. The wine is aged in large neutral oak barrels for about five years.
Tasting Notes
Appearance: Bright ruby red with garnet hues.
Nose: Aromas of rose petals, cherry, red currant, licorice, sandalwood, and graphite.
Palate: Cherry, sweet red fruits, spice, orange peel, and menthol with silky ripe tannins and vivid acidity.
Finish: Long and savory with excellent balance and finesse.

Cellaring Potential
Although enjoyable now, it is best consumed from 2026 to 2047 to allow full maturation and complexity.
