The 2018 Noon Winery Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is one of Australia's most sought-after boutique Cabernet Sauvignons, produced in extremely limited quantities by Drew Noon. Sourced from exceptional old-vine vineyards in Langhorne Creek, this flagship release showcases the concentration, structure, and longevity that have established Noon Winery as a cult producer among collectors and fine wine enthusiasts.
While Noon Winery is based in McLaren Vale, the Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon has long been sourced from carefully selected Langhorne Creek vineyards, a region renowned for producing Cabernet Sauvignon of remarkable depth, purity, and ageing potential. The region's moderating maritime influences and fertile alluvial soils consistently deliver fruit with exceptional concentration while retaining freshness and balance.
The outstanding 2018 vintage provided ideal ripening conditions throughout South Australia, producing Cabernet Sauvignon with superb fruit intensity, tannin maturity, and natural acidity. Widely regarded as one of the strongest vintages of the decade, 2018 produced wines with both immediate appeal and extraordinary cellaring potential.
Hand-harvested fruit was carefully sorted and fermented in small batches before maturation in premium French oak. True to the Noon philosophy, the emphasis remains on vineyard expression and balance rather than excessive extraction or oak influence.
The wine reveals intense aromas of cassis, blackcurrant, blackberry, and dark plum, layered with graphite, cedar, cigar box, tobacco leaf, violets, and dark chocolate. The palate is powerful yet beautifully proportioned, displaying concentrated dark fruit, fine-grained tannins, vibrant acidity, and exceptional persistence. Despite its richness and intensity, the wine remains remarkably elegant and focused.
Still youthful and tightly wound, the 2018 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is entering its early drinking window but will continue to evolve magnificently over the next 20–30+ years. Extended decanting is recommended if enjoyed in its youth.
