“87/9.5/3/0.5% cabernet sauvignon/merlot/cabernet franc/petit verdot. Matured 24 months in seasoned French oak barriques. At less than a third of the price of its big brother, baby Domaine A has long been one of the bargains of Tasmanian reds. This is textbook cabernet of magnificent stature and grand longevity. All the usual suspects are here in full measure: pure blackcurrant, cigar box and the subtle perfume of the lavender row that borders this fabled vineyard. Tannins are superfine-ground and mineral, energising a very long finish and bringing tingling anticipation for what the future will invariably hold.”

About the Winery
Domaine A is one of Tasmania’s most significant wine estates, founded with the ambition to produce age-worthy, Old World–inspired wines in the cool climate of southern Tasmania. Its eleven-hectare Stoney Vineyard, first planted in 1973 in the Coal River Valley, is shaped by ancient Jurassic dolerite soils, a temperate maritime climate and a long growing season.
The estate’s philosophy is uncompromising: fruit is never rushed, yields are tightly controlled and wines are released only when they are ready. Alongside its flagship Domaine A wines, the Stoney Vineyard range offers a more immediate expression of the same site, made with equal precision and care.
