The 2017 Langmeil “The Freedom 1843” Shiraz is a profound Barossa Valley wine drawn from one of the world’s oldest surviving Shiraz vineyards. Produced exclusively from the historic Freedom Vineyard planted in 1843, this vintage captures remarkable concentration, balance, and authority. The cooler, extended 2017 growing season has delivered a wine of precision and depth, enhancing both structure and longevity.
Vineyard and Winemaking
The Freedom Vineyard is dry-grown and low-yielding, with ancient vines producing intensely flavoured fruit of exceptional character. Hand-harvested grapes were vinified using traditional methods to preserve vineyard identity and varietal purity. The wine was matured in carefully selected oak barrels, allowing complexity and structure to develop while keeping the ancient-vine fruit at the forefront.
