It's a rare pleasure to have a wine or two that we hold for over five years, allowing us to assess many bottles over time and truly savor and contemplate them. Usually, wines are grown, made, bottled, and sold within 15 to 18 months. However, with Darshan and Block 8, we've had the chance to observe numerous bottles, gaining a deeper understanding of the vineyards, the seasons, and their unique characteristics, which has been a delightful experience. The 2018 season was slightly warmer than 2017. The nose offers a floral, almost ethereal quality, with sweet, wild forest fruits. Added complexity comes from aromas of brown spices, game, and a cool red cherry freshness. The palate is beautifully textured and substantial, mouth-filling, and persistently flowing. It also has a mineral, chalky, and expansive quality. Like the 2017, the 2018 vintage is at a wonderful stage of development at six years and will continue to drink exceptionally well over the next six years and beyond.
