The 2016 growing season in Champagne was shaped by climatic contrasts — a cool, wet spring followed by warm, dry conditions late in the summer. These fluctuations created fruit with excellent concentration and bright acidity, especially in Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The result is a vintage that delivers freshness and linearity alongside delicately layered depth.
The nose opens with aromas of citrus blossom, lemon zest, crisp green apple and white peach. As the wine evolves in the glass, notes of brioche, toasted almonds, white flowers, chamomile and chalky minerality emerge. Subtle hints of pastry, hazelnut and smoky flint add further elegance.
On the palate, the 2016 Grand Vintage is precise and harmonious. The attack is fresh and vibrant, driven by citrus and orchard fruit purity. Fine, persistent bubbles and a silken mousse carry flavours of pear, grapefruit, oyster shell and light toast across the palate. The mid-palate reveals gentle creaminess, balanced by a spine of crystalline acidity. The finish is long, mineral and refined, showcasing the tension and longevity characteristic of the vintage.
