About This Wine

Launched with the 1990 vintage, Bin 407 was developed in response to the increasing availability of high-quality Cabernet Sauvignon fruit.

Inspired by Bin 707, Bin 407 offers varietal definition and approachability while retaining structure and depth of flavour.

This wine highlights the rewards of Penfolds' multi-region, multi-vineyard blending philosophy, combining fruit from Wrattonbully, Coonawarra, Padthaway, McLaren Vale and Barossa Valley.

Textbook Cabernet Sauvignon, Bin 407 showcases ripe fruit supported by sensitive use of French and American oak.

Colour
Bright crimson red.

Nose
Aromas reminiscent of Thai/Vietnamese coriander, betel leaf, chive, lime, grapefruit dressing, Asian spices and green tea. Classic Cabernet notes of cassis and violet are complemented by hints of soot, coal dust and dusty oak.

Palate
Kirsch and tomato purée Cabernet flavours underpinned by pan-jus meatiness and cola. Sharpening-stone minerality, graphite and ironstone notes are carried by sleek, elongated tannins and judicious oak.
