The 2014 Louis Roederer Cristal Millésime Brut is one of Champagne’s most prestigious vintage cuvées, produced only in exceptional years when Pinot Noir and Chardonnay reach ideal maturity. The 2014 release is a biodynamic Cristal composed of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay, combining ripe fruit, chalky freshness and crystalline precision.
A benchmark luxury Champagne, Cristal is aged for 6 years in Louis Roederer’s cellars and held for a further 8 months after disgorgement before release.
Vintage & Winemaking
The 2014 vintage was marked by sharp seasonal contrasts: a sunny, dry spring, a June heatwave, a cool and rainy summer, then a hot, dry and sunny September. The chalk soils and careful vineyard work were key to preserving balance, draining excess summer water and allowing the grapes to reach excellent maturity.
The fruit came from key Cristal crus including Verzenay, Verzy, Beaumont-sur-Vesle, Aÿ, Avize, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and Cramant. Around 32% of the wine was aged in oak, contributing texture and structure while preserving Cristal’s hallmark purity and saline chalk freshness.

Intense, bright and luminous gold with a continuous stream of fine bubbles. The bouquet is pure and fragrant, with candied citrus, ripe yellow fruit, grain, lightly roasted almonds and tangy freshness. The palate is silky and elegant, with ripe fruit, powdery chalk, saline freshness, soft bubbles and a long, refined finish with grainy, velvety texture.
Food Pairing
Pair with shellfish, crab, lobster, sweet potato tempura, sushi, sashimi, delicate seafood curry, Comté or fine celebratory canapés.
Cellaring Potential
Drinking window: 2021-2050. The 2014 Cristal is already compelling, but its structure, chalky freshness and depth make it highly suitable for further cellaring.
