The 2013 Penfolds Bin 707 Cabernet Sauvignon is one of Australia’s most iconic and powerful Cabernet expressions, standing alongside Grange as a flagship wine in the Penfolds portfolio. Produced only in outstanding vintages by Penfolds, Bin 707 is a multi-regional blend that showcases the depth, structure, and longevity of Australian Cabernet Sauvignon at the highest level.
The 2013 vintage is widely regarded as exceptional across South Australia, delivering fruit of remarkable concentration, balance, and tannin quality. Bin 707 draws on premium Cabernet Sauvignon parcels from Penfolds’ top vineyards, predominantly in the Barossa Valley, McLaren Vale, and Coonawarra, combining power with regional complexity. Low yields and optimal ripeness underpin the wine’s intensity and long-term ageing capacity.
In the winery, fruit was fermented using traditional Penfolds techniques, with extended maceration to extract colour, flavour, and structural tannins. The wine was matured for approximately 18 months in 100% new American oak hogsheads, a signature of Bin 707, contributing bold structure, spice, and seamless integration designed for extended cellaring.
The wine displays an imposing and complex bouquet of blackcurrant, cassis, dark plum, and blueberry, layered with notes of cedar, vanilla, cocoa, graphite, and savoury oak spice. The palate is full-bodied and commanding, showing immense concentration, dense dark fruit, and powerful yet finely honed tannins. Despite its scale, the wine retains freshness and balance, finishing long, savoury, and persistent.
