Henschke's Lenswood vineyard, nestled in the Adelaide Hills, is a testament to the region's unique terroir. Planted in 1981, the vineyard benefits from high altitude, cool climate, and ample sunshine, providing ideal conditions for producing elegant and complex wines.
Vintage Description
The 2013 vintage was a remarkable year for Lenswood. A combination of early budburst, a mild spring, and a long, dry summer led to exceptional fruit quality across all varieties. Despite the challenges of a dry season, the vineyard produced abundant yields of beautifully balanced grapes.
Wine Description
The 2013 Charles Giles Pinot Noir is a stunning wine that showcases the elegance and complexity of the Lenswood terroir.
Maturation
To enhance its character, the wine was matured for 10 months in a blend of new and seasoned French oak barrels. This process allowed the wine to develop its rich, complex flavors and smooth tannins.
Tasting Notes
A deep cherry red hue with garnet highlights, the wine offers a captivating nose of black cherry, raspberry, and wild berry aromas, complemented by subtle floral notes of rose petal and spicy undertones of cedar and clove.
On the palate, the wine is elegant and refined, with flavors of strawberry and wild berry that unfold seamlessly. The wine is well-structured, with balanced acidity and silky tannins that provide a long, satisfying finish.
