“Even after three years in oak and seven in the cellar, the 2013 release is looking remarkably youthful as it takes to the stage. Rich and serious-smelling with blackberry, blackcurrant pastille and kirsch notes lit with fine spice, tobacco leaf, pencil shavings, dried herbs, dark chocolate, apple pie and cedar. Savoury and full bodied in the mouth, powdery, sedimentary tannins layered in support of the fruit. Something meaty and mysterious as an undertone too with a touch of morello cherry and a distinctly graceful feel as it elegantly fades from view. Lovely drinking.”
