“Again, there is pretty, fragrant fruit on the nose that is quite lovely, but the fruit weight is more apparent. Tending to dark fruits with plum, complex spice and earthy highlights. The structure on the palate stands out for the firm tannins which, whilst extraordinarily fine, coat the tongue and close down the fruit. Quite supple, yet the power really builds on the finish and the length is a standout. Even better the next day!”

About the Winery
Wendouree is an Australian producer located in the Clare Valley of South Australia. Known for the rarity of its wines and their long-lived structure, the winery has achieved cult status, with releases offered only to an exclusive mailing list.
The property is more than a century old and has been managed by Tony and Lita Brady since 1974. The original stone winery is still in use, and its 12-hectare vineyard includes old-vine Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Mataro and Muscat of Alexandria — most planted between the late 1890s and early 1900s.
Winemaking
The Wendouree vineyard is dry-farmed and the grapes are hand-picked. Fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts in open-top stainless-steel fermenters, followed by ageing in French oak barrels for up to twelve months.
The winery produces around 2,000 cases annually of varietal and blended wines, including Shiraz Mataro, Shiraz Malbec and Cabernet Malbec.
