2011 in Champagne was a year of contrasts — an early, warm spring followed by a cooler, challenging summer. For Krug, it was a season that produced powerful, expressive fruit from select plots that thrived under meticulous care. These parcels inspired the creation of a vintage that balances richness with remarkable tension and freshness.
Assemblage
Composed primarily of Pinot Noir (around 46%) for backbone and intensity, supported by Chardonnay (39%) for finesse and luminosity, and Meunier (15%) adding generosity and charm. The blend was aged for over 10 years in Krug’s cellars before release, allowing every nuance to integrate and unfold.
Tasting Notes
Pale gold with fine, persistent mousse. Aromas of citrus peel, toasted brioche, hazelnut, and subtle floral notes lead into a palate of orchard fruit, candied ginger, and almond cream.
