The 2010 Dalwhinnie Moonambel Cabernet Sauvignon is a standout release from one of the Pyrenees region’s most respected and site-driven estates. Dalwhinnie, established in 1976, is renowned for producing elegant, finely structured wines from its elevated, amphitheatre-like vineyards surrounding the township of Moonambel. With old vines, low yields, and minimal-intervention winemaking, the estate consistently delivers Cabernet Sauvignon of purity, definition, and remarkable longevity.
The 2010 vintage is widely regarded as one of the finest years of the decade across Victoria. A long, mild growing season produced fruit with exceptional balance between ripeness, concentration, and natural acidity. This Moonambel Cabernet opens with expressive aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, mulberry, bay leaf, cedar, pencil shavings, and dried herbs. Subtle notes of tobacco, graphite, dark chocolate, and savoury spice add depth and complexity as the wine breathes.
On the palate, the 2010 Cabernet is medium-full bodied, beautifully structured, and superbly balanced. Fine, persistent tannins frame layers of dark fruit, while fresh acidity gives lift and precision.
