The original and most powerful expression of Penfolds multi-vineyard, multi-district blending philosophy, Grange is arguably Australia’s most celebrated wine and is officially listed as a Heritage Icon of South Australia. Crafted utilizing fully ripe, intensely-flavored and structured shiraz grapes, the result is a unique Australian style that is now recognized as one of the most consistent of the world’s great wines. With an unbroken line of vintages from the experimental 1951, Grange clearly demonstrates the synergy between shiraz and the soils and climates of South Australia. This release in 2021 commemorates the 70th anniversary since Grange was first made.

Critic tasting note: (2009 vintage) "A taciturn Grange. Cinder, sandalwood, campfire and spice. Unusually, straight shiraz. Packed with clove, marjoram and eucalyptus, with a grating of orange zest across the impenetrable, somewhat drying finish. Not the most charming iteration, although formidable of heft and full-weighted, as to be expected. This will continue to go a further distance with the caveat that while the tannins are bracing, they will dry out sooner rather than later. Drink or hold." - 93/100, James Suckling
