The 2008 Torbreck The Factor Shiraz is a bold and authoritative Barossa Valley icon, drawn from some of the region’s finest old-vine Shiraz parcels. Named after a song by British rock band Roachford, The Factor represents Torbreck’s most intense and structured Shiraz style. From an outstanding vintage, the 2008 release delivers immense concentration, depth, and long-term ageing potential.
Vineyard and Winemaking
Fruit was sourced from low-yielding, dry-grown Shiraz vines across the Barossa Valley, many of considerable age. Following fermentation, the wine was matured exclusively in 100% new French oak barriques for approximately 18 months. This élevage builds formidable structure and richness while allowing the power of Barossa fruit to remain front and centre.
Tasting Notes
Deep, opaque crimson in colour. Aromas of blackberry, black plum, and blueberry are layered with notes of liquorice, espresso, dark chocolate, and spice. The palate is dense and muscular, delivering concentrated dark fruit, savoury oak, and firm, authoritative tannins. Despite its power, the wine retains balance and drive, finishing long, rich, and persistent.
