Vineyard
Lafite’s vineyards occupy the highest gravel terraces in northern Pauillac, with deep gravel and limestone soils that provide ideal drainage and contribute to the château’s hallmark minerality. Cabernet Sauvignon dominates the blend, supported by Merlot and small parcels of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, all sourced from some of Bordeaux’s oldest and most meticulously tended vines.

The 2007 vintage was cool and uneven across Bordeaux, with pressure from early-season rain. However, a warm, dry September offered a critical window for ripening. The 2007 Château Lafite Rothschild shows a luminous garnet colour and an aromatic bouquet of redcurrant, cedar, graphite, violets, and cigar box. The palate is medium-bodied and precise, delivering silky layers of red fruit, tobacco leaf, pencil lead, and subtle earthy complexity. Fine, polished tannins and bright acidity create a long, refined finish. A beautifully poised Lafite drinking superbly now but still capable of graceful evolution.
