The 2007 Charles Melton Voices of Angels Shiraz is a highly expressive, old-vine Barossa Valley Shiraz that captures both the generosity of the region and the refined, thoughtful winemaking style of Charles Melton Wines. Produced only in select vintages, Voices of Angels represents a more nuanced and contemplative expression within the Charles Melton portfolio, sitting between power and elegance.
Fruit for the 2007 vintage was sourced from mature, low-yielding Shiraz vines across the Barossa Valley, delivering excellent concentration while maintaining natural balance. The season allowed for full flavour development, producing fruit with depth, aromatic intensity, and structural integrity—ideal for extended ageing.
In the winery, grapes were hand-harvested and fermented using traditional methods, with careful extraction to preserve purity and texture. The wine was matured in quality oak barrels for an extended period, allowing the integration of savoury complexity and fine tannins without overwhelming the fruit character.
With significant bottle age, the wine now shows a beautifully evolved profile. Aromas of blackberry, dark plum, and blueberry are layered with notes of liquorice, spice, earth, leather, and subtle cedar. The palate is full-bodied yet composed, with softened, resolved tannins, deep savoury undertones, and a long, balanced finish that reflects both provenance and patience.
