The 2006 Patrick ‘Grande Reserve’ Cabernet Sauvignon is a mature, classically styled Coonawarra Cabernet that exemplifies structure, longevity, and regional purity. Produced by Patrick of Coonawarra, the Grande Reserve represents the pinnacle of the estate’s Cabernet Sauvignon program, released only in vintages deemed worthy of extended ageing and long-term cellaring.
Sourced from the finest low-yielding parcels grown on Coonawarra’s renowned terra rossa soils over limestone, the 2006 vintage delivered Cabernet of outstanding balance and structural integrity. Cool nights and a long ripening period allowed full flavour development while preserving acidity—ideal conditions for a wine built to age gracefully over decades.
With nearly two decades of bottle age, the wine now displays a complex and harmonious profile. Aromas of blackcurrant, cassis, and dried plum are interwoven with classic tertiary characters of cedar, cigar box, tobacco leaf, leather, earth, and subtle mint. The palate is medium- to full-bodied and composed, showing resolved yet persistent tannins, layered savoury complexity, and a long, elegant finish that speaks to both provenance and patience.
