Bin 28 offers a showcase of warm-climate Australian Shiraz ¨C ripe, robust and generously flavoured. First made in 1959, Bin 28 is named after the famous Barossa Valley Kalimna Vineyard purchased by Penfolds in 1945 and from which the wine was originally sourced. Today, Bin 28 is a multi-region, multi-vineyard blend, with the Barossa Valley always well represented.
Black olive and chocolate notes resonate with an abundance of fruits, with mouth-coating sweet tannins and balanced acidity. Full and expansive - an immersion of flavour saturation and a textural continuum across the palate.

Above average winter rainfall led into a promising vintage, which was characterised by mild conditions up until February, followed by hot weather conditions throughout March and April. South Australia fared well and produced wines of elegance and intensity.
Ageing: This wine was matured for 12 months in a combination of one, two year old and older American oak.
Producer Tasting Notes: COLOUR Medium deep red. NOSE Very fresh, vibrant wine with red cherry, aniseed, plummy aromas with some nutmeg, spicy, mint notes. PALATE Generous chocolaty, blackberry, red cherry flavours and slinky, dry tannins. Finishes long and bittersweet. A very well-balanced wine that should improve with further ageing.
