“Bloody hell, this is like opening a medicine cabinet after several years. Anis, candied apricots, cough mixture, Benylin…you get the score, but it is quite hypnotic. The palate is medium-bodied with lovely balance, succulent fleshy red-berried fruit struck through with eucalyptus. Opulent outrageous and delicious.”

About This Wine
Wendouree Shiraz Mataro is produced from the historic Wendouree vineyard in Clare Valley. The wine reflects the estate’s long-standing approach to low-input viticulture and traditional winemaking, allowing site character and vine age to define the style.
About the Winery
Wendouree is an Australian producer based in the Clare Valley of South Australia, known for the scarcity of its wines, which are released exclusively via a private mailing list. The property dates back more than 100 years and has been owned and operated by Tony and Lita Brady since 1974, with the original stone winery still in use.
The 12-hectare vineyard is planted to old vine Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Mataro, and Muscat of Alexandria, much of it established in the late 1890s to early 1900s. Vineyards are dry farmed and handpicked. Fermentation uses indigenous yeasts in open-top stainless-steel fermenters, followed by maturation in French oak for up to 12 months. Annual production is approximately 2,000 cases.
